Save Soraya’s Family

Soraya’s Story

Soraya is a TV journalist known for her progressive stances on women’s rights. The Taliban are actively searching for her. In this video, filmed by a neighbor, Taliban soldiers break into and search Soraya’s former home. Following in their mother’s footsteps, Soraya’s 5 daughters were each pursuing higher education and prominent careers as female activists. If the family isn’t rescued, Soraya will likely be killed and her daughters married off to Taliban soldiers or sold into sex slavery.

The family of 8 consists of Soraya, Mohammad, and their children Elaha (24F), Sahar (22F), Benazir (21F), Marwa (18F), Dunya (16F), and Rezwan (12M).

The Evacuation Mission

We desperately need your help. For 18 months, we've kept Soraya and her family safe, but they're not free. Now, finally, we can get them out. We've made logistical and legal arrangements to transport this family from Afghanistan, through Pakistan, and ultimately resettle them in Brazil.

Everything is in place – everything except the money to fund this operation. The operation costs $95,000, which will result in this entire family living full lives in safety. We have until March 15th, and we need you. If we fall short of our goal, this family will be stuck and the most likely outcome is eventual Taliban capture with Soraya being killed and her daughters given to the Taliban as brides or sold into sex slavery.

Please don't let that happen. Help us by making a tax-deductible donation – anything you can – now. Here’s how the evacuation is conducted:
