Janat’s Story

The Taliban are hunting Janat, his wife, and four children. Janat worked as a security officer for the U.S, helping protect American facilities and troops in Afghanistan. Because of his affiliation with the U.S, he has received death threats from the Taliban and they’ve been looking for him. This family should be eligible to evacuate to the U.S. due to his honorable service, but Janat’s former employer (a U.S. military contractor called Constellis, formerly Black Water) lost sections of his employment records, making it impossible to get them the U.S. visa they earned.

The family of 6 consists of Janat, Rabia, and their children Maria (9F), Mustafa (5M), Marwa (7F), and Mohammad (3M).

The Evacuation Mission

We desperately need your help. For 18 months, we've kept Janat and his family safe, but they're not free. Now, finally, we can get them out. We've made logistical and legal arrangements to transport this family from Afghanistan, through Pakistan, and ultimately resettle them in Brazil. The mission is dangerous, involving acquiring back-channel passports and visas from Taliban-controlled government offices and transporting the family across a Taliban-controlled border. With over 100 successful evacuations to date, we’re confident in our ability to keep the family safe and get them to Brazil—their new home.

Everything is in place – everything except the money to fund this operation. The operation costs $48,000, which will result in this entire family living full lives in safety. We have until March 15th, and we need you. If we fall short of our goal, this family will be stuck; then, the most likely outcome is eventual Taliban capture, death for Janat and Rabia, and their very young daughters sold into sex trafficking.
