The Brazil Pathway
Update as of January 2024
All families were fully funded in March of 2023! On top of that, ALL 40 Afghans made it to Pakistan! 7 are already building new lives in Brazil! This unbelievable achievement could not have been accomplished without our financial partners. Unfortunately, the Brazilian government has delayed interview appointments in Pakistan until Feb-Apr 2024. This means prolonged costs to sustain those in the pathway: rent, utilities, food, and medical care, including 2 pregnancies that will deliver before evacuation.
We need to raise $30,000 by April to support our 5 families (20 adults, 12 Children) through April. Here is a breakdown of costs below:
Background
When the United States withdrew from Afghanistan in August 2021, the Taliban seized control and began a revenge mission to find and kill all Afghans who assisted the US and those who supported democracy, women’s rights, and civil rights. Since then, EVAC has been protecting, evacuating, and resettling 350 at-risk Afghans. Under Taliban tyranny, all Afghans are suffering. The familes EVAC helps are facing even greater danger. The Taliban are searching for them.
Evacuation Options
For these families, evacuation to another country is the only option for a safe future. However, evacuation methods are incredibly complex. For some Afghans, US Special Immigration Visas (SIV) enable a slow pathway to the US. EVAC has utilized this SIV pathway to evacuate 62 Afghans. The families listed on this page are not eligible to evacuate to the US and, until now, had no way out of Afghanistan. In summer 2022, EVAC began partnering with an organization called Team Hope, to develop “The Brazil Pathway.”
The Brazil Pathway
Team Hope, a Global Generosity Inc. project, began development of the Brazil Pathway for Christian Afghans to flee the Taliban. To date, 1,100 Christian Afghans have evacuated along the Brazil Pathway. In fall 2022, EVAC and Team Hope conducted a trial-partnership to evacuate one of EVAC’s most in-danger Afghans. After this success, EVAC’s families can now evacuate via the Brazil Pathway. Here’s how the pathway works…
As each family progresses along the Brazil Pathway, EVAC will provide safe housing, covert food deliveries, healthcare, and encrypted communication methods to stay in close contact. We have high confidence that we can get each family safely to Brazil.
Time Urgency
As of January, 2023, Brazil has a new government. It’s anticipated that changes to immigration policy will result in the Brazil Pathway closing by summer 2023. For our EVAC families listed below, this is their only opportunity out of Afghanistan. Each family must be fully funded by March 15th, 2023 or they lose their opportunity to embark on the Brazil Pathway. If a family is not fully funded by March 15th, they will have to remain in Afghanistan— a death sentence.

Ahmadullah (17) and Zain (18) are teenage orphans. Some of their relatives made it to the US, but these boys could not get out of Afghanistan. The Taliban have been trying to recruit them. The boys have been constantly moving, relying on the kindness of strangers to stay alive. In May of 2022, the boys went missing; they had been captured by Taliban for recruitment. For months, EVAC worked members of the US intelligence community and international lawyers to locate the boys and secure their release. It was successful.
