Save Anwar

Anwar’s Story

Anwar was a journalist and civil rights activist who was extensively involved in reporting violations of women’s rights, children’s rights, and the rights of ethnic and religious minorities. He worked regularly with the UN, promoting democratic ideals. Anwar is also Hazara, an ethnic minority group persecuted by the Taliban. Anwar was forced into hiding and longs to be able to use his voice for the good of others again.

The Evacuation Mission

We desperately need your help. For 18 months, we've kept Anwar safe, but he is not free. Now, finally, we can get him out. We've made logistical and legal arrangements to transport Anwwar from Afghanistan, through Pakistan, and ultimately resettle him in Brazil.

Everything is in place – everything except the money to fund this operation. The operation costs $10,000, which will result in him living a full life in safety. We have until March 15th, and we need you. If we fall short of our goal, Anwar will be stuck, and the most likely outcome is eventual Taliban capture and death.

Please don't let that happen. Help us by making a tax-deductible donation – anything you can – now. Here’s how the evacuation is conducted:
